DESCRIPTION:Karori Cemetery is the final resting place for people whose lives ended tragically – from drowning\, from murder\, and from accidents of all kinds. This tour includes the story of three militia men killed in a guncotton explosion; a man who murdered his two small children; an attempted murder followed by suicide; a drowning or two; a man sentenced to be hanged but released from jail 8 years later; shipwreck victims\, accidental deaths\, and many more. \nTours are $10 per person (children under 12 free) + booking fee.\n \nWe are now using electronic ticketing\, please follow the link to book: \nhttps://events.humanitix.com/friends-of-karori-cemetery-murder-and-mayhem-tour \nTours are limited to about 15 people. Off the Beaten Track takes you off the main road\, exploring a bit further into the older sections of Karori Cemetery. We walk up and down the hills\, through the gully’s and alongside the creek to discover some interesting characters and some of the history of the cemetery as well. Stories of professional stage magicians\, murders & murder victims\, soldiers\, skylarkers\, movies and gum trees are recounted. \nThis tour requires moderate fitness and is not suitable for anyone with limited mobility.
