Ō tātou urupā, Ā tātou kōrero

(Our cemeteries, our stories)

We believe that this whakataukī encapsulates the nature of our purpose as a group in acknowledging the various sections within Karori Cemetery and the stories of those that lie buried within them.

This whakataukī was kindly gifted to us by the iwi of Te Āti Awa, who are mana whenua over Karori Cemetery and this rohe (district). We want to thank and acknowledge the iwi of Te Āti Awa for the gift of this whakataukī in support of our group.

We would also like to acknowledge our former Friends Committee member, Peter Anderson, in helping us with establishing the whakataukī.
