Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who worked with such gusto on three rows in Gum Gully this afternoon. They made such a striking difference. Progress photos to come. Bendy Gum is being removed! Have you got a name for this distinctive tree, a feature on the T-junction close to the Peter Fraser Memorial? It will all be gone by the end of the day, 18th February.
Moon in his hand. We’ve had some lovely evenings for walking in the Cemetery this February.

This portion of headstone was recently found in the stream some distance from the cemetery. It appears to have been in the water for a long time. We’ve been trying to figure out what the inscription says. Any suggestions?

Everyone likes a game of “then and now” – which do you prefer? Original photo courtesy of WCC Archives Online. Another “then and now”. Interesting how the Main Chapel was once so visible on the skyline, as was the Underwood angel, and The Shelter more open. The implements shed has undergone quite a transformation too! Original photo: Copyright AttributionWellington City CouncilCopyright License CC-BYCitationWellington City Council Archives, 00557-39-18
Third in our “then and now” series and I’ll stop for a bit! Although with this one, I’m not sure I have the correct tree. It’s main trunk looks taller in 1983! But close enough?
